A Sebastian Light Story

Exciting news!

In 2016 an anthology called Full Metal Magic came out and included stories featuring the main characters from some of the top urban fantasy authors working today…and me. At the time, all of the included stories were exclusive to the collection. You couldn’t get them anywhere else. Sadly, Full Metal Magic was a limited time deal and it’s no longer available. Which means my story, “Family Business: A Sebastian Light Story” has remained in limbo.

Until now…

Yes! Readers can once again get the story chronicling Detroit sorcerer Sebastian Light’s first foray into paranormal bounty hunting. Now, you won’t find it on Amazon, or any of the other book retailers. But if you’d like to read it, you can do so for free. I’ve decided to offer this story exclusively to my newsletter subscribers. If you are already one of the awesome peeps on my list, expect to get an email in the next couple days telling you how to download yours. If you’re a newbie just signing up, you’ll get those same instructions shortly after confirming your subscription.

You can SUBSCRIBE HERE. I don’t spam, so no worries there. I’ll keep you up to date with new releases, any deals or freebies, and a monthly note about works in progress or random pontificating on what I’m reading, watching, or researching.

Here’s the cover of “Family Business” and a short little blurb about it:

Detroit Sorcerer Sebastian Light expects his first day as a demon hunter to go off without a hitch, but tricky family issues prove harder to slay than even the surliest of goblins.

DECEIVED: Unturned Book Three Now Live!

I’ve been remiss. Somehow I forgot to mention here on my own website that the third book in the Unturned series is live, available now at Amazon.

Here’s the book description from Amazon:

Detroit sorcerer Sebastian Light thought he wanted answers. Now he wishes he never asked.

Try as he might to deny his mother’s horrifying revelation, one clue after another forces Sebastian to accept an unthinkable truth.

A conspiracy within the halls of the Ministry carries ties to Sebastian’s family. He doesn’t know what end the conspirators seek, only that they consider his mother a pawn in their mysterious game.

To protect her, Sebastian must search for more answers. His discoveries uncover the true depths of deception surrounding him, and will pit him against the greatest supernatural threat the Motor City has ever faced.

This book answers the biggest mysteries of the series to date, and while it caps off a larger story arch, there are plenty more adventures for Sebastian Light coming soon. In fact, book four, Enraged, is on its way to the editor. I anticipate a quick release for that one. Perhaps toward the end of May, if you can believe it. And what am I doing now? Well, I’m writing book five, of course!

I’ll make sure to announce that one on time. 😉

Here’s the link to Deceived again. Enjoy!

Crossed: Unturned Book Two is Finally Here!

At last, the second book in the Unturned series is now available on Amazon. Here’s the blurb:

A magical brand keeps Detroit sorcerer Sebastian Light from succumbing to the vampire infection roiling through his blood, but the brand also cuts him off from half of his power—maybe more.

Uncertain of his new limitations, Sebastian tries to play it safe even while hunting beasts on the Motor City’s paranormal most wanted list. But after a cadre of vampires attacks and burns down his home, like it or not, Sebastian must put those limits to the test—especially when he finds himself up against D-Town’s oldest and most powerful vampire.

More than Sebastian’s soul rides on finally defeating these undead deadbeats, including the lives of everyone he loves…and a chance to learn the truth behind his father’s mysterious death.

Oh, and if you haven’t yet read Branded, the first book in the series, I have more good news–it’s on sale for 99 cents, but only for a limited time.

New Beginnings

Welcome to my new website. Glad you found your way here, whether through a link in one of my books, my Facebook or Twitter pages, or a Google search for “Rabid Hamster Trainers in the Midwest.”

Okay, I’m not a rabid hamster trainer. But now that I’ve put that phrase in this post, I wonder how high I will rank in a Google search for it.

In any case, there’s more going on around here than rodent jokes and a new website. I also have a new urban fantasy novel set for release TOMORROW! (June 20th to be precise.) Branded is the first book in a fresh series about a sorcerer with a serious vampire problem. Here’s the official summary of the book:

BrandedSorcerer Sebastian Light has long used his powerful magic to corner the market on demon hunting in Detroit. With control over the elements, he can burn through bounties almost as fast as the Ministry can issue them—much to the chagrin of the Motor City’s other hunters. But after a group of vampires taints him with their blood in an effort to turn him, collecting bounties is the least of his worries.

News of Sebastian’s vampire infection spreads through the city like Hellfire. Now he has a contract on his own head, and his rivals see an opportunity to take out their biggest competition. He can expend magical energy to keep the infection from blazing through him, but fending off constant attacks at the same time requires more power than even he can muster. Weakening daily and hunted wherever he goes, Sebastian scrambles to find a cure—before this fight for his life leaves him undead.

I had a lot of fun not only with the magical pyrotechnics and the cool characters, but also the setting. I grew up in the Detroit area. There are a lot of neat locations for an urban fantasy. It doesn’t get much more urban than the Motor City.

Right now Branded is available for only 99 cents as part of a new release special (and you can even pre-order it so you don’t have to remind yourself to swing by Amazon tomorrow). The release price won’t last long, so now would be a good time to grab your copy.

I’ve never been much of a blogger, but I’m hoping to stay in touch on here a little more regularly. If you have any questions or topics you’d like me to discuss, leave a comment or contact me via email through my contact form.

Until next time!
